Our Biggest Blessing

Hayden Lucas

Hayden and I spent Thanksgiving day at my sister's house in Fredericksburg, VA. My parents were also there and we had a great dinner. Hayden just loves to play with his cousins Ryan and Sarah. Eric was on call the Thursday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend but he drove all the way to see us after work on Friday morning and left early Saturday morning to drive back. We are very grateful for such a great husband and daddy. My mom and sister stayed with the kids on Friday so we could do a little Christmas shopping and go out for a lunch date. We have so many things to be grateful for this year and we thank God every day for His many blessings in our lives.

Fall Fun

We are loving being in Maryland and have really been enjoying the Fall weather. We have been taking advantage of the great outdoors a lot lately as Hayden loves to be outside. Here are some pics from over the last few weeks to include a trip to the pumpkin patch, Halloween, and fun with cousins....

St. Michael's

A few weeks ago Eric and I traveled to St. Michael's, MD on the Eastern Shore for a weekend getaway. My parents came to our place to stay with Hayden so we could make the trip. It was our first weekend away alone together since we had Hayden so we were very excited. The weather turned out to be perfect. We stayed at a cute bed and breakfast close to town. We were able to bike ride, shop, eat at some great restaurants, wine taste, and take a sailboat tour. It was a very relaxing weekend and we hope to make it an annual trip. Here are a couple pics from the weekend....

Summer Fun

The summer has gone by so fast. We've been keeping busy with visitors, playdates, and short trips to see family. Eric is working a lot but is enjoying being back in the hospital. I have been getting to know the area and have found a lot of fun places to take Hayden. Hayden has adjusted nicely to the YMCA here so I'm able to workout a few times a week. He used to cry when I left but now he runs in and doesn't want to leave when I come back. He has really become quite independent! We just started weekly swim classes at the Y and he loves being in the water. We also joined My Gym which is a play gym for kids so we go there 1-2 x week. There are a lot of nice parks nearby so we are looking forward to the fall to take advantage of them more. Hayden loves a good slide. He enjoys being outside much more than walking the mall....which is what we were doing on all the hot days we've had. Here are some pics from our adventures over the last 6 weeks.....

Our friends Pat and Steph came to visit for the weekend. The guys were able to play a game of golf and the girls took Hayden to the park. We went to the Inner Harbor for dinner and had a great time with them!

We had a fun playdate at a pettting zoo with our friends Rebecca and Peyton. Hayden and Peyton are only a week apart and it was their first time meeting.

Hayden and I took a trip home to see Grammy & Pops and Aunt Jessi. We went to Jessi's pool and Hayden got to try out her dad's driver. My parents watched Hayden so we could go to Solomons Island for the night....

Visitors!

We have had quite a few visitors since we moved so I'm going to try and catch up on posting some pics from the last couple months. It feels like we've had more visitors in the past 2 months than we had in our two years in Montgomery. :) I love it!

My friend Stephanie was in town the weekend after we moved in. She was finally able to meet Hayden and the girls were able to go out in Annapolis while the boys stayed home. :)

Eric's parents flew in for a visit at the end of June. They flew in to Atlanta and drove Eric's old college forerunner up for us since we left it behind with family. Eric just can't let it go so now its sits out on our curb waiting to be refurbished one day. I don't think I have ever been in the car seeing as it has no AC. Poor Mel and George drove it up on one of the hottest days of the year so we are very grateful to them for that. :) Eric had to work a lot while they were here but Hayden was able to have lots of time with Nana and Papu. We did some shopping and went out to dinner a couple of times. It was great to just spend time with them again. On their last day in town we took them to the Inner Harbor where we had a great meal on the water at Phillip's.

I love this photo of Hayden

Eric's parents flew out the Friday of July 4th weekend and my friends Meredith and Jessi flew in that night from Raleigh to visit for my birthday. Again Eric was working the majority of their trip but we were able to have lots of girl/Hayden time. We took Hayden shopping, out to dinner, and running at the park. We were all able to go back to the Inner Harbor on Sunday for dinner. It was a great visit and I was happy for Hayden to have lots of time with Aunt Mere and Aunt Jessi.

My sister recently visited with my nephew and niece, Ryan and Sarah. She is a little less than 2 hours away so we will definitely see a lot more of them but this was her first trip to our new place. The kids had lots of fun playing together. We went to the mall for lunch at Dave & Buster's. Ryan and Uncle Eric had lots of fun playing games.

Home Sweet Home

We are so excited to finally be settled in our new home! Our drive up from Alabama went pretty well. Hayden rode with Eric in his truck and Georgia rode with me. Needless to say I had a very relaxing drive. :) We settled and moved in to our townhouse on June 1st and the moving truck came on June 2nd. It took us a few weeks to get settled but now we are enjoying the new place. Now I just need to catch up on the blog!

Goodbye Montgomery!

Its hard to believe we will be moving in less than one week. The movers will be here Thursday and we are starting the drive to Maryland on Saturday. It was no secret we were not thrilled to move to Montgomery, Alabama 2 years ago but looking back over our time here we can appreciate quite a few things. We will always remember it as the place where Hayden was born and we became parents. Eric enjoyed working as a flight surgeon and I enjoyed his Mon-Fri schedule and weekends off. I will definitely miss that! We were also very fortunate that Eric was never sent on a long deployment. The two 2 week deployments that he did go on were great experiences for him and much easier on me and Hayden. We were able to live close to Eric's family and it was great to spend so much time with them over the past two years. We have also made some great friends here that we will miss. Now we look forward to what the future holds in Maryland. Its hard to even think about being in one place for 6 years and we are so excited!
