Back to School 2018

Hayden's first day of school was on on August 27th.  He was excited to be back at Mendel Elementary and I was excited both boys would be at the same school!  Kindergarten started a week later so Lincoln had one extra week home with mommy.  Hayden was also excited for his new teacher, Mrs. Veazey, who he said all summer he hoped he would get...and who mommy secretly prayed would be his teacher.  As I type this, he has made it through his first quarter and received his report card (all A's and one B).  Mrs. Veazey had many great things to say about Hayden but my favorite was that he was a good friend to his classmates.  He makes us proud in so many ways!

Lincoln's first day was on September 4th.  He was beyond excited to go to American School with his brother!  Eric was off work so we were both able to walk him over to school.  He did not seem nervous at all until he lined up outside to go into school.  He would hardly look at us as he waited.  After school he talked non-stop about his day and all he did.  This was a big change from Japanese school where he hardly had much to tell me about his day.  My heart is so happy for him and I have a sense of relief for both boys this year knowing they are in good classrooms with teachers that really care for them.

I was able to attend a field trip with both boys in the same week.  Lincoln had a field trip to a Japanese farm to pick Japanese sweet potatoes and Hayden had a field trip to a nearby zoo.  So thankful I have this time to spend with my boys!
